Atlas Roofing Company in Los Angeles: What to Know First
If you own an Atlas roof in Los Angeles and need repairs, replacement, or an honest inspection, we can help. Tilehurst Roofing Los Angeles is an independent Atlas service provider, not a manufacturer affiliate, and we handle Atlas shingle, tile, and underlayment systems across the city. Most Atlas repairs are done in a single visit once parts are on hand, and you’ll always get a written price before any work starts. That’s the only way we know how to begin.
This page is for homeowners in Los Angeles who already have an Atlas roof, or who are considering one, and want straight answers on how these products hold up here, what they cost to fix, and who can do the work right the first time. Call (213) 674-2890 and you’ll talk to a live person, not a voicemail tree.
How Atlas Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Every manufacturer’s roof has its own personality under the Los Angeles sun. Atlas is no different. Here’s what we actually see when we climb up on Atlas roofs in Los Angeles neighborhoods, and what we do about it.
- Pinnacle Pristine shingle blow-offs at the rake edge. The Pinnacle line uses a wider nail zone, but we regularly find installs where the nails landed outside the reinforced strip near the gable ends. Santa Ana winds in the fall find those weak edges fast. We pull the damaged shingles, check the nailing pattern, and refasten with doubled coverage at the rake, then seal with a compatible adhesive that holds through the next wind event.
- StormMaster Shake color fading and granule loss on south-facing slopes. Atlas’s StormMaster Shake line looks great for the first few years, but direct Los Angeles sun on a 5/12 pitch without adequate attic ventilation bakes the top surface. Homeowners in Woodland Hills and Sherman Oaks call us about bald patches that look like wear but are actually heat damage. We replace the affected field and check ridge vent and intake airflow before we put new shingles down, so the fix lasts.
- GlassMaster sealant strips losing adhesion after the first heat cycle. Atlas shingles rely on a thermal sealant strip to bond the courses together. On poorly ventilated roofs in the San Fernando Valley, the underside of the shingle gets hot enough that the sealant cures unevenly. The result is shingles that lift in a light breeze and let water in at the overlaps. We lift the unbonded course, scrape the old strip, and apply a compatible cold-weather sealant rated for Los Angeles heat, then weight the seam until it sets.
- Atlas HP42 synthetic underlayment tearing around penetrations. The HP42 underlayment is a good product, but it does not forgive a sloppy pipe boot or vent flashing install. Around chimneys, plumbing vents, and skylights in older Los Angeles homes, we find tears where the underlayment was pulled too tight before the flashing went on. Water that gets past the flashing then has a straight path to the decking. We strip the area, repair or replace the flashing, and re-lay the underlayment with proper relief cuts around irregular penetrations.
- Atlas tile caps cracking at the ridge on hillside homes. On Atlas concrete tile roofs in Eagle Rock, Mount Washington, and the hills above Pasadena, we see ridge caps crack not from impact but from slight structural settling. Clay tile roofs move over time, and the ridge is where that movement shows up first. We reset or replace the cracked caps, check the mortar or adhesive bed, and in most cases switch to a flexible sealant that allows a little movement without splitting.

Our Atlas Roofing Company Process
- 1
You call, a person answers. We ask what you’re seeing – a leak, a missing shingle, a tile in the yard, granules in the gutter – and we set a window for a visit. You’ll talk to someone who knows roofing, not a call center script.
- 2
We inspect with eyes, not guesses. We go on the roof, not around it. We look at the specific Atlas product you have, check the areas that line tends to fail, and document what we find with photos you can see on the spot.
- 3
We give you a written price before any work starts. You get a line-by-line number, not a verbal range. If we find something else once we open the roof, we stop and call you before we spend another dollar. No change orders at the door.
- 4
Parts: OEM unless aftermarket is better for your situation. We stock common Atlas accessories and can source OEM shingles and tiles when the line is still in production. For discontinued Atlas colors, we work with quality aftermarket matches when OEM is no longer available or would leave a visible patch.
- 5
The repair is done right, then tested. We fix the root cause, not the symptom, and we water-test where possible before we come down. The area is left clean – we bring tarps and drop cloths, and we haul away everything we pull off.
- 6
You get a written guarantee before we leave. Every repair gets a written guarantee delivered the same day, not mailed later. If that repair fails inside the guarantee period, the crew comes back to correct it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

AfterWhat Atlas Roofing Company Costs in Los Angeles
Here are the real numbers for the Atlas work we do most often in Los Angeles. These are typical ranges, not a bid – your exact price depends on the size of the area, the pitch of the roof, and whether we’re matching an existing Atlas line.
- Small Atlas shingle repair (a few torn or loose shingles): $325 – $650
- Medium Atlas shingle repair (vent flashing, pipe boot, small field patch): $500 – $1,200
- Atlas tile repair (cracked or slipped tile, ridge cap reset): $400 – $900 per incident
- Atlas underlayment section replacement (decking exposed, small area): $800 – $1,800
- Full Atlas shingle replacement on a standard Los Angeles ranch or two-story: $9,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage and whether decking needs work
What moves the price: roof pitch (steep roofs take more time and safety equipment), decking rot under the Atlas product, whether the Atlas line is current or discontinued, and access (two-story homes with tight side yards cost more). Call (213) 674-2890 for an exact quote – estimates are free, and the price you get is the price you’ll pay.
Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Tilehurst Roofing Los Angeles for Atlas Work
We’re a Kingswell family roofing company, founded in 2000, and we built this location for Los Angeles homeowners who’ve been burned before. Every job starts with a written price before any work starts, and every repair gets a written guarantee before the crew leaves the driveway. If a repair fails inside the guarantee period, we return at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. No arguments, no phone tag.
Our techs are background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who’s on your roof. And if Atlas isn’t the right product for a section of your home – or you want to compare options – we carry material from seven manufacturers: GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral. You get the product that fits the home, not whatever happens to be in the truck.
Greg Holloway, who runs Tilehurst Roofing Los Angeles, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has worked roofs across Los Angeles County for well over a decade – from flat torch-down on Mid-City apartment buildings to clay tile on hillside homes in Eagle Rock. He grew up in Reseda, watching crews re-tile roofs baked by the summer heat, and he still runs every job like it’s his own roof. Tell you the price before we touch the roof – that’s the only way we know how to start.
FAQs
No. We’re an independent Atlas service provider, not an Atlas-authorized installer, so we’re free to tell you the truth about what your roof needs without a manufacturer’s quota behind the recommendation. We install and repair Atlas products because they hold up well in the Los Angeles climate when they’re installed correctly, and we stand behind our work with our own written guarantee.
It depends on the line and the color. Some Atlas shingle lines like StormMaster and Pinnacle are still current, while older color blends have been discontinued. When OEM Atlas parts are no longer available, we source quality aftermarket matches and walk you through the trade-offs before any material goes on the roof. Call (213) 674-2890 and we can tell you the same day whether your Atlas line is still in production.
For a small repair on a current Atlas line, we can usually have it done within a week of your call, sometimes sooner depending on part availability at our Los Angeles suppliers. Discontinued colors or tile profiles can add a few days while we source the match. You’ll always get a window for the visit, and we show up in that window.
Yes. Every repair gets a written guarantee delivered before the crew leaves, covering the work for the guarantee period. If that repair fails inside the period, we return at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s the floor, not a premium add-on.
The honest answer depends on the age of the roof, the extent of the damage, and whether the existing Atlas product is still shedding water the way it should. If the decking is sound and the failure is isolated, repair makes sense. If you’re chasing leaks across multiple slopes or the Atlas product is past its useful life, replacement costs less per year than repeated patches. We’ll show you the numbers for both options and let you decide – no pressure, no upselling.
