IKO Roofing Company in Los Angeles: What to Know First
We’re an independent IKO roofing company in Los Angeles, and we repair and replace IKO shingle roofs, along with the flashing, underlayment, and ventilation that work with them. Most IKO repairs in Los Angeles run between $450 and $1,800 depending on the damage, and we’ll tell you the price before we touch the roof – that’s the only way we know how to start. If you own an IKO roof somewhere in the Los Angeles basin, the San Fernando Valley, or down toward Long Beach, this page tells you what actually goes wrong with these roofs and what it costs to fix them. Call (213) 674-2890 and a live person answers, any hour, any day.
How IKO Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
IKO makes solid shingles, but Los Angeles has its own way of testing them. Sun, Santa Ana winds, and the marine layer do different things to a roof depending on where you live. Here’s what we see most often on IKO roofs in LA, and how we handle each one.
- Granule loss on IKO Cambridge shingles. IKO Cambridge is a laminated architectural shingle, and in neighborhoods like Woodland Hills or Pasadena where summer attic heat can push 140 degrees, the asphalt layer ages faster than the granules. Homeowners notice granules piling up in gutters or streaks on the roof. That’s not cosmetic. The granule layer is your UV shield, and once it’s thin, the asphalt underneath starts baking. We inspect the whole plane, not just the bare spot, because on IKO Cambridge the loss usually spreads evenly rather than in one patch. Fix depends on how much granule you’ve lost. Early stage gets a coating treatment. Late stage means replacement.
- Blistering on IKO Nordic and Marathon shingles. IKO’s older Nordic and Marathon lines from the 1990s and early 2000s still show up all over the San Gabriel Valley and the Westside. These shingles blister when moisture from a poorly vented attic gets trapped in the mat, then the LA summer heat expands it into bubbles that pop. You’ll see small craters in the shingle surface, especially on south- and west-facing slopes in neighborhoods like Pasadena and Altadena. If the blisters haven’t popped, the roof is mostly intact but has lost protective surface. If they’ve popped, water gets under the mat and starts working on the decking. We check attic ventilation before anything else on these, because the shingles aren’t the root cause. The fix is ventilation correction plus replacement of the damaged run.
- Wind damage along the rake edges on IKO Dynasty shingles. Santa Ana winds coming through the passes hit homes in places like Glendale, Pasadena, and the foothills north of the 210 pretty hard. IKO Dynasty has a wider nail strip than Cambridge, which helps, but we still see the rake edge shingles (the ones along the sloped edge of your roof line) lift or tear when gusts catch them at the wrong angle. The real vulnerability isn’t the Dynasty shingle itself; it’s the layer underneath. If the underlayment isn’t fastened well or is the wrong type for this wind zone, you get a cascading failure. We use the nails the manufacturer calls for and we hand-seal any rake shingles that have lifted but haven’t creased yet. If the shingle has creased or torn, it’s replaced.
- Cupping and curling on field shingles from failed decking. When IKO shingles cup or curl in Los Angeles, the roof decking is usually the cause, not the shingle. We see it in older homes across Mid-City, Eagle Rock, and the Valley where the original plywood decking never got enough attic ventilation and has absorbed decades of heat and moisture. The shingles on top are responding to a substrate that’s moving. You don’t fix that by replacing shingles. You pull the damaged section, repair or replace the decking, and relay new IKO underlayment and shingles. We tell you this before we start because the price difference between a patch and a proper deck repair is significant, and you should know it going in.
- Leaks around penetrations on IKO roofs with older flashing. Pipes, vents, chimneys, and skylights are where every roof brand leaks, and IKO is no exception. In coastal Los Angeles areas like San Pedro, Torrance, and the beach cities, salt spray accelerates corrosion on the metal flashing and boots at these penetrations. We regularly see pipe boots where the rubber has cracked and separated from the shingle mat, letting water in even when the shingles look fine from the ground. On an IKO roof, the shingles around a penetration have to be cut back, the old flashing pulled, and the new flashing integrated with fresh ICE and underlayment before the shingles go back on. It’s not a caulk job. Caulk fails in the Los Angeles sun within a season or two.

Our IKO Roofing Company Process
Every IKO job we do in Los Angeles follows the same path. No crew does anything that isn’t written down first. Here’s how it goes.
- 1
Call and scheduling. You call (213) 674-2890. A live person answers, day or night. You tell us what’s wrong or that you want an IKO roof inspected. We book a visit in a window we can keep.
- 2
On-site inspection. Greg Holloway or one of our IKO-trained techs walks the roof. We document what we see, take photos, and identify whether the problem is shingles, flashing, underlayment, decking, ventilation, or some combination.
- 3
Written line-item estimate. Before we do anything, you get a written price that breaks down the work. The estimate includes parts, labor, and any permit requirements specific to your part of Los Angeles. The number on the page is the number you pay.
- 4
Parts decision. For IKO work we always price OEM IKO shingles first. If your roof is under IKO’s limited warranty, using OEM keeps the warranty intact. We’ll tell you if an aftermarket alternative makes sense and we’ll put that comparison in writing too.
- 5
The repair or replacement. The crew arrives in uniform, protects the areas around the roof, and does the work to the manufacturer’s installation spec. We don’t cut corners on underlayment, nail count, or flashing detail.
- 6
Testing and the written guarantee. After every IKO repair we run water tests where possible and inspect every seam and seal. Then we hand you a written guarantee on the spot. If that repair fails inside the guarantee period, you call us and we come back at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s in writing before we leave.

AfterWhat IKO Roofing Company Costs in Los Angeles
Here are the ranges we typically see for IKO work in the Los Angeles area. Actual prices depend on roof pitch, number of stories, accessibility, and how much damaged material we find once we lift the shingles.
- IKO roof inspection: $150 to $350 for a full inspection with photos and a written findings report. We credit the inspection fee toward any repair we do.
- Small IKO repair (one penetration, one corner, a few shingles): $450 to $900.
- Mid-size IKO repair (one roof plane, flashing replacement around a chimney or skylight): $900 to $1,800.
- Large IKO repair (multiple planes, decking replacement, or major flashing work): $1,800 to $4,500.
- Full IKO re-roof in Los Angeles: $9,000 to $24,000 depending on square footage, tear-off requirements, and whether decking needs replacement.
What changes the price the fastest is decking. If the wood under your shingles is sound, a repair is straightforward. If it’s rotted from years of slow leaks, that’s more material, more labor, and a larger number on the page. We tell you before we start, not after. Call (213) 674-2890 for a free estimate on IKO roof work in Los Angeles.
Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Tilehurst Roofing Los Angeles for IKO Work
We know IKO, and we also carry GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral. That matters because IKO owners sometimes decide on replacement and want something else, or a repair is more practical with a different material. We give you real options from seven manufacturers, not whatever happens to be in the truck.
We’re a local Los Angeles member of the Kingswell family of roofing companies, founded in 2000. The Kingswell Way is simple: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. Live people answer our phones 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. You’ll never get a voicemail. Greg Holloway grew up in Reseda and has spent well over a decade roofing across Los Angeles County, from torch-down in Mid-City to tile work in the hills. His daughter once told him roofers are just people who fix the sky. We think that’s about right.
As an independent IKO service provider, we’re not affiliated with or authorized by IKO, but we know their product lines and we follow their installation specs. That’s what protects your warranty and your roof.
FAQs
No, not if the work is done properly with OEM IKO materials and correct fastening, which is what we do. If your roof is still under IKO’s limited warranty, we’ll use IKO shingles and IKO-specified installation practices. As an independent IKO service provider, we’re not authorized by IKO, but we follow their published specs, and we’ll tell you in writing if any aspect of a repair could affect your warranty coverage. Call (213) 674-2890 if you want us to check your warranty status before you decide.
Once we’ve inspected and you’ve approved the written estimate, most IKO repairs are completed within one to three days. We never promise same-day work because a proper IKO repair involves drying time for sealants and careful flashing detail, and rushing that in the Los Angeles heat produces a repair that fails. What’s fast is the fact that a live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, so you can start the process the moment you notice the leak. Call (213) 674-2890.
It depends on the condition of the shingles, decking, and ventilation, not just the age. IKO Cambridge and Dynasty can last 20 to 25 years in Los Angeles if the attic ventilation is right and the roof hasn’t baked. If the shingles are curling or the granule loss is widespread, repair adds up fast and replacement often makes more financial sense. We’ll give you a repair estimate and a replacement estimate and let you compare. The estimate is free. Call (213) 674-2890.
OEM IKO shingles are made by IKO and match your roof’s color, profile, and performance rating exactly, and they keep your warranty intact. Aftermarket shingles can match visually and cost less, but manufacturers may not honor a warranty if repairs were done with a competitor’s product. We price OEM IKO first on every IKO repair, then show you the aftermarket option if one exists. You make the call with the numbers in front of you. Call (213) 674-2890 for a written quote.
Blistering happens when moisture trapped in the shingle mat expands under extreme heat, and south-facing Los Angeles slopes in neighborhoods like Pasadena, Woodland Hills, and the Valley reach surface temperatures that push the moisture hard. The root cause is almost always inadequate attic ventilation, not a shingle defect. We fix the ventilation first, then replace the blistered shingles. Call (213) 674-2890 and we’ll inspect what’s happening under your roof, not just on top of it.
